What We Do

Drs. Hayder focus on preventive dentistry and on tailoring recommendations based on your children's individual needs. Family- and patient-focused, our practice partners with parents to instill the importance of healthy habits in their children. When a child needs treatment, we work closely with our carefully trained staff to ensure safety and comfort during the appointment, and to ensure the best treatment outcome. We rely on the latest technology and most current information, basing our recommendations on the established standards of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Our office is bright and airy, and designed to feel like a safe and welcoming space for children of all ages.

Dental Home

Just as the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a "medical home" for all children to ensure their well-being, the AAPD recommends a "dental home" by age 1 year. This does not refer to a physical space, but rather the ongoing relationship between Drs. Hayder and their patients, that allows children to receive comprehensive care in a coordinated, easily accessible, family-centered way.

Preventive Care

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." We provide regular checkups and cleanings, regular professional fluoride applications, and periodic xrays as needed, in order to prevent cavities and other oral problems, and address them at the appropriate time.

Behavior Guidance

We recognize that treating children requires a special touch. Drs. Hayder and their staff take the time to get to know your children and identify their particular needs. They are not only highly trained to make children feel comfortable, but feel a special responsibility to do so.

Children with Special Health Care Needs

We value the unique qualities of every person, and strive to provide optimal care for everyone. Drs. Hayder underwent special training during two years of postgraduate study after dental school, to become more familiar with the needs of and treatment options for children with special health needs. Often taking the time to simply allow a child to become more familiar with our office and with Drs. Hayder allows us to provide the care they need. We offer more advanced options (see below) as indicated, to ensure all children receive the appropriate care.

Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Sedation)

Laughing gas is safe and effective in helping calm anxiety, enhance pain control, and improve effective communication. Children are able to respond to all verbal stimuli, and natural reflexes remain intact. At the end of treatment, it is eliminated after a short period of breathing oxygen and has no lingering effects.

Deep Sedation/General Anesthesia

Deep sedation or general anesthesia may be helpful for children who need extensive treatment, or who may be too young or too anxious to cooperate for treatment otherwise. An anesthesiologist can give your child medications to help them fall asleep, while Dr. Hayder completes the dental treatment they need. Drs. Hayder recommend this option if they feel no other alternative to complete treatment would be equally effective. This is a safe and effective option when done by an appropriately trained individual in an appropriately equipped facility. Our practice works closely with a board-certified anesthesiologist to ensure treatment is completed safely, in strict adherence with the guidelines of the AAPD.

Orthodontic Evaluation

At every checkup, Drs. Hayder evaluate the growth and position of children's teeth and jaws. The early diagnosis of any developing malocclusions--crowded or crooked teeth or bite problems--is important, and we can intervene to guide teeth into the proper position as they emerge in your child's mouth. Our practice has established close working relationships with several local orthodontists on whom we rely to address our patients' needs.

Emergency Coverage

Drs. Hayder are available outside of our regular business hours to address any oral emergencies your children may have. Simply call our office number and listen to our message for how to contact them, and one of them will return your call right away.

School Visits & In-Office Workshops

We've routinely visited schools and conducted in-office workshops, not only to educate kids about how to care for their teeth and eat healthy, but also to encourage them to consider careers in dentistry.
